ICA Regional Hub Thailand 2026 brings together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore communication inequalities and advance research collaboration across Thailand,
the Mekong sub-region, and Asian region.
The ICA Regional Hub Thailand 2026 is a two-day academic conference held on 6–7 June 2026 at the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
It is an official concurrent event of the 76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA), running in parallel with the main conference in Cape Town.
The Hub operates in a hybrid format, enabling in-person participation in Bangkok alongside live virtual attendance from anywhere in the world.
The conference is hosted by the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University, and the Asian Network for Public Opinion Research (ANPOR), in partnership with Council of Mass Communication Scholars of Thailand (C.M.C.T.) and additional institutions to be confirmed.
Navigating a Digital Crossroads Thailand and the Mekong region are at the forefront of rapid digital transformation. From the rise of Generative AI to platform-driven misinformation, these shifts risk deepening communication inequalities rather than resolving them.
Elevating Regional Voices Despite these pressing realities, scholarship from Thailand and across Asia remains underrepresented in global academic discourse. There is an urgent need to bridge this gap.
A Strategic Convening Center Aligned with the ICA 2026 theme, "Communication and Inequalities in Context," the Thailand Hub positions Bangkok as a vital center for global dialogue—ensuring that Asian perspectives are not just participants, but leaders in shaping the future of communication.
The conference welcomes communication scholars at all career stages — from doctoral researchers to senior faculty — alongside media practitioners, platform policymakers, civil society advocates, journalists, and public health communicators working in or on the Thailand-Mekong-Asian region.
Both in-person attendance in Bangkok and virtual participation are fully supported.
